Around 550 million customers worldwide use their Maestro cards today, making it the most popular means of payment.
Now Maestro cards can also be processed online over the Internet. The international product launch for e-commerce is about to begin. Maestro cards for the Internet are already being issued in Austria, Great Britain and Spain. France, Germany, Holland and Italy are currently in the process of updating their infrastructure and will issue the first Internet-capable Maestro cards to cardholders in the near future.
It's so easy!
Processing of the Maestro card on the Internet occurs online through the 3-D Secure Merchant Plug-In (Saferpay MPI). There is otherwise little difference between the processing and handling of debit cards and credit cards; the cardholder simply enters his/her Maestro card number when paying online. He/she will be forwarded to the Web site of the card-issuing bank and there will be prompted to enter his/her SecureCode (personal password). As a merchant, you receive a rapid and secured authorization and can charge for your goods and services accordingly.
Processing through Saferpay can take place in both the virtual terminal window or through the SCAI.
