Credit Card Protection Certification Program PCI (SDP/AIS)

Visa and MasterCard are demanding greater data protection in e-commerce in the future. If you, as an online shop operator or Payment Service Provider (PSP), handle credit card data, then in the future you must offer increased protection of such data from unauthorized access. Better still: Do not store any credit card data all!

Data theft over the Internet has dramatically increased in recent years. There have already been around one hundred known cases around the world in which 40 million credit cards numbers have been stolen.

E-shops are being held liable

Therefore, MasterCard and Visa are requiring that all e-shop operators and PSPs worldwide in the future be regularly certified according to the MasterCard Site Data Protection (SDP) and Visa Account Information Security (AIS) standards. Non-certified companies can be held liable for losses incurred as a result of data theft.

Graded certification

The certification is carried out be accredited partners (see list), graded according to the amount of turnover conducted by an e-shop and the number of transactions it processes. Certification procedures range from completion of a questionnaire (self-assessment) to targeted hacking attacks (security scans), to on-site reviews in which security is checked on site.

Stop storing data
